Frequently asked questions about barefoot shoes for adults

They are shoes designed to let your foot move as closely as possible to walking barefoot: a wide toe box, a thin flexible sole and zero drop, meaning there is no height difference between the heel and the forefoot.

The terms are often used interchangeably. Minimalist shoes is a broader term for footwear that respects the natural shape and movement of the foot, while barefoot shoes are its most minimal version, with a thin sole and zero drop. All our adult models follow these principles.

We recommend a gradual transition: start with short periods and wear them for longer as your feet get used to them. If you have any foot condition or discomfort, check with your podiatrist first.

Measure the length and width of your foot and compare them with the size guide: each size shows a minimum length, a maximum length and an insole width. If your measurement is longer than the maximum length for a size, choose the next one up.

Yes. Your first size exchange is free in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, and international exchanges and returns have a fixed fee depending on your location. Check the details in our refund policy.

Do not put them in the washing machine. Protect the material with a water repellent before wearing them, gently brush the surface with cleaning foam and take the insoles out from time to time to let them air. Our sneaker cleaning kit includes everything you need.

Barefoot sneakers for adults that fit the shape of your foot

Barefoot shoes for adults start from a simple idea: the shoe should take the shape of your foot, not the other way around. At KOOPS, every model is designed with that in mind, together with podiatrist Neus Moya, so you can move freely in shoes you actually want to wear, at the office, around the city or at the weekend.

Conventional shoes often combine a narrow toe box, a thick sole and a raised heel. Adult barefoot shoes give your toes room, let you feel the ground and keep your heel and forefoot at the same height. New to barefoot? Our guide on what barefoot footwear is explains it in more detail.

Movement, stability and connection

All our adult barefoot sneakers share three design principles:

Movement

A flexible sole moves with every step, letting your foot bend and adapt to the ground instead of being held back by rigid structures.

Stability

A wide toe box gives your toes room to spread naturally. Combined with a flat, zero-drop sole, it creates a broad base of support and a steadier stride.

Connection

A thin sole (6 mm on our Zen and Kai models) lets you feel the ground beneath you, without the insulation of a thick sole.

Our adult barefoot shoe models

How to choose your adult barefoot shoe size

Getting the size right is key to enjoying barefoot shoes: they should leave room in front of your toes and respect the width of your foot. All you need to measure at home is paper and a pen:

  1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall and rest your heel against it.
  2. Mark the tip of your longest toe (it is not always the big toe) and the widest point of your foot.
  3. Measure the length and width, repeat with the other foot and use the measurements of the larger one.
  4. Compare your measurements with the chart in our size guide.

We recommend measuring at the end of the day, when your feet are slightly more swollen. You can also use the Find your size with a photo option on every product page.
